The difference between this traditional method

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico">

And this method

<link rel="icon"
      type="image/gif"
      href="http://yourdomain.com.com/assets/favoritesicon.gif">

Is you can use just about any type of image file - just change this line"type="image/gif" "
to reflect the file extension of the image you are using

Make sure to place it under the <title> </title> section in the head area or your code
