Current Month Name = <?php echo date('F') ?>
Current Year = <?php echo date('Y') ?>

used mainly in hidden fields on a form or display purposes

The date() function formats a local time/date.

This coding will display like this :
<?php echo date('F') ?> <?php echo date('d') ?> <?php echo date('Y') ?>  - <?php echo date('g') ?>:<?php echo date('i') ?> <?php echo date('a') ?>

February 18 2011 - 2:42 pm

<?php echo date('l') ?>, <?php echo date('F') ?> <?php echo date('d') ?> <?php echo date('Y') ?>  - <?php echo date('g') ?>:<?php echo date('i') ?> <?php echo date('a') ?>

Saturday, February 18 2011 - 2:42 pm

This code will insert this format

<?php echo date('Y') ?><?php echo date('m') ?><?php echo date('d') ?>

2011-05-31

<?php echo date('n') ?>/<?php echo date('j') ?>/<?php echo date('Y') ?>

6/25/2019

You can also use this to format a record set date value like this:

<?php echo date(" l F d, Y", strtotime($row_rsview_invoice['stop']));?>

Will show in this format - Saturday June 04, 2011

Another way to do this :

<?php
  // make date normal month/dd/yyyy
  $mysqldate = $row_rscurrentreunionevents['reunion_date'];
  $mydate = date("l F j, Y",strtotime($mysqldate));
  echo $mydate;
?>

Will show in this format - Saturday June 4, 2011

which is the correct mysql way to insert into a date filed
