Overview

The Administration of the Product Catalog Manager is pretty straight forward and easy to manage. The Product Catalog Manager allows administrative access on 2 levels:

  • Super Admin
  • Admin

The Super Admin has full unlimited access to all features and functions and is the main go to person when other Admin level users have problems or questions. The Super Admin can set up an unlimited number of Admin level users and can also track when they log on and the last time they showed any activity within the Product Catalog Manager administration section.

An Admin level user has access to the following:

  • Add/Edit Vendors
  • Add/Edit Categories
  • Add/Edit Packaging option
  • Add/Edit Products

What an Admin level user can not do is delete anything nor do they have access to any of the Site over all settings.

Support

Web Global Net provides 30 days of unlimited 800# support for new installations.
The Product Catalog Manager also has built-in help.

Typically with new installations after just a few short phone calls our users find they are what we term "advanced users" mainly due to the fact that the Product Catalog Manager is so easy to use and is extremely intuitive to manage.

We also provide Free lifetime online support via our Product Catalog Manager support forum.

Within the Product Catalog Manager Administrative Module you will see the following button displayed where on-line help is available. Simply move your mouse over the button and a help message will appear.

We have tested this feature within Internet Explorer on the PC and from within FireFox on both the Macintosh & PC it will depend on what versions and settings you have set up if this will work.

It is a known issue that the on-line help windows do not work on the Mac using Safari. Although your catalog will display properly on all browsers regardless of the platform, we do not support nor recommend using the Apple Safari Browser to administrate your Product Catalog Manager.

Admin Module

The Product Catalog Managers workflow follows this structure, although you can add on the fly new records to the Vendor, Categories, and Packaging from within the Product section. We recommended that until you understand how things operate well that you follow this workflow initially and understand these terms:

  • Vendors/Manufacturer/Supplier - A person, company or group in which you purchase a product to display or sell
  • Categories - Defines the products grouping and are used as your main menus within the Product Catalog Manager.
  • Packaging - In what format or quantity a product is either purchased in or sold.
  • Products - The thing, service, or item you want to display or sell on line.
  • Site Settings - This is the area where you control how your Catalog looks, what information you want to display, Administration activity, and Edit your static pages.

Typically you would add a new Product to your catalog by following this steps:

  1. Add your Vendor (if you have one) who is supplying the product
  2. Add the Category/'s of the Vendors Product
  3. Add the the Vendors Product Packaging options ( i.e. - you may offer 1 product in a few different options - single item - Box [6 single items] - Carton [12 Boxes] ).
  4. Add the Product itself

Please Note: The optional Pay Pal Module is shown.

Vendor Module

The Vendor Module gives you the ability to enter all Vendor related information (See Single Vendor Add/Edit/Delete Screen). You also have the ability to link directly to a Vendors web site and record your discount rate (% off retail price that you pay for the product - your cost) with each individual vendor. The Vendor information can be displayed within the Product Display page if you choose.

You have the option of displaying the Vendor information on a per product or global catalog wide basis.

The only information that is required to be entered is the Vendors Company name, all other information is optional. Future modules for the Product Catalog Manager currently under development will use all information, so the more information entered and stored the more options you will have available to you as your needs grow.

Settings Module

The Settings Module is where you, as the Catalog owner, decide what is displayed within your on-line catalog. The Settings Module effects your catalog on a Global Basis meaning that what you select within the settings module affects your entire catalog, as opposed to local settings set within the Product Module. Global settings always override local settings. There are 8 standard settings sub modules (including the Admin User Registration) that provide global control over the following:

Site Information
Site Information
  • Site Contact Information - Address, phone #'s - Email Address
  • Upload a Downloadable Catalog - in either PDF, Word, Excel, or Text Format - up to 2MB in size. If a Catalog has been uploaded it is attached to the Product Information Email a user can request for each product automatically.
  • Search Engine Meta Tags - for both Key words and site description

Catalog Page Layout Images
Catalog Page Layout Images - Look & Feel of your Catalog
  • Header Graphics - The site design image at the top of your page
  • Footer Graphics - The background image used at the bottom of your page
  • Page Background Image - The image that displays in the background of the Browsers window behind the catalog itself.
  • Favorites Icon  - which displays in the address bar and when a user Bookmarks your site.

Global Display Options

Global Display Setting affects your entire catalog, as opposed to local settings set within the Product Module. Global settings always override local settings. You can either choose to show or hide the particular display option.

Global Display Settings
  • Address Information - This affects if your contact information is shown in the below the catalogs left menu area and also on the Contact Us page.
  • Site Name in Header -Text in the header area is displayed in White and is centered above any background image Graphic Header file you may upload. Turning this off allows you to upload your own custom header image that you may want that would include your sites name within the header graphic image itself.
  • Footer Text - Text in the Footer area is displayed in White and is centered above any background image footer file you may upload. Turning this off allows you to upload your own custom footer image that you may want that would include what ever information you want within the footer graphic image itself.
  • SRP Pricing - Suggested Retail Price, what your vendor suggests you sell a product for, showing this (as well as your price) would highlight savings a user can get from you. You may also want to show the SRP and turn off the Your Price option,by doing this the following would then be displayed " Please Call for current Pricing information & your phone #"
  • *Your Price - Price you sell a product for.
  • *Weights - Weight of the product itself if your clients needs to know for shipping cost purposes.
  • *Packaging - In what format or quantity a product is sold in.
  • *Category Images - Icons displayed to the left of your catalog's menu
  • *Vendor Information - Who you get your product from.

* These options my also be turned off or on for each individual product. Remember though if an option is turned off within the Global Display setting any individual display setting you have set will be overridden.

On-Line Page Editing
(Home page is shown for example purposes)
On-Line Page Editing

The Product Catalog Manager has 4 additional pages within the Catalog that displayed within your main menu area, if you leave a page blank (except for the Home page) then it will not appear in your main menu area on the left.

Each individual page can be edited online and gives you the ability to include, images, links, email addresses and files for downloading. The page editing feature is very similar to a Word processor in terms of the in-line menus it uses.

The Page Editing sections also provides the ability to include HTML coding as well for those who feel comfortable with HTML coding.

Powerful, flexible - yet simple use.

You may edit the following pages directly on-line:

  • Home - Welcome page that users see first when they come to your site.
  • About Us - Use to describe what your company or site is all about.
  • Contact Us - Your Contact information is displayed automatically first and below that you can add any other information you want a user to see - i.e. Departments - Shipping etc...
  • Terms - This is information regarding your ordering - return or shipping policies and is displayed in your footer section.
pay pal module for Product Catalog Manager from Web Global Net
Optional Pay Pal Module
Pay Pal Module Option

The optional Pay Pal Module allows you to sell your products on-line using pay pal as your secure method of payment. You must have a Pay Pal account setup to use this. The Pay Pal Module can be purchased and added at anytime and takes less than a minute to be installed.

You do not need to create either the Buy Now buttons or the Add to Cart buttons within your pay pal account the Product Catalog Manager automatically does this for you, and inserts the Product Name, part # (if any) and Price.

The Pay Pal Module allows you to set Globally the following:

  • Show Buy Now Button
  • Show Add to Cart Button - if turned off the View Cart button will not show under the Main Menu. The View Cart Button will still show though if you have turned off the view cart button within a individual product.
  • Show we Accept Pay Pal

You have the ability to use both the Buy Now and Add to Cart button at the same time for all products. The reason you may want to do this is to allow for impulse purchases via the Buy Now button option.

To use the Pay Pal option you must include a valid Pay Pal email address.
